- February 13, 2006 - United States Attorney Margaret M. Chiara and
FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Division Daniel D. Roberts
announced that on February 10, 2006, Daniel L. Dropik, 22, of Sullivan,
Wisconsin was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison after having pled
guilty to the attempted destruction of religious property for having set
fire to two churches: the Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, on April 16, 2005, and the Trinity African Methodist Episcopal
Church in Lansing, Michigan on April 17, 2005. The sentence was imposed
in Milwaukee by United States District Judge Rudolph Randa, who also ordered
Dropik to serve three years of supervised release upon his release from
prison and to pay a total of $39,697.18 in restitution to the two churches.
The
investigation was conducted by the Lansing Office of the Federal Bureau
of Investigation, the Lansing Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms, and Explosives, the Lansing Police Department, and the Lansing
Fire Marshal. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney
Donald Daniels.
