FRIDAY,
FEBRUARY 1, 2008 - GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Larry Provell Glenn III, 25,
of Niles, was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in prison for being a convicted
felon in possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney Charles R. Gross announced
today. Due to his three prior felony convictions for battery and drug distribution, Glenn qualified as an Armed Career Criminal under federal law and was subject to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years. In addition to the 15 years in prison, Chief U.S. District Judge Robert Holmes Bell ordered Glenn to serve five years of supervised release and to pay a $1,000 fine and a $100 special assessment. U.S. Attorney Gross
commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Niles Police
Department for their work in the case. Their joint investigation was undertaken
as part of the FBI Violent Crime Task Force. Members of the FBI Violent
Crime Task Force include the Benton Harbor Police Department, the Benton
Township Police Department, the Berrien County Sheriff's Department and
the St. Joseph Police Department. This case was prosecuted on behalf of
the United States of America by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elisa Castrolugo. |
