Daniel D. Roberts, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Detroit, Michigan, advises the FBI and the Bloomfield Township Police Department continue to pursue the James Riddle Hoffa investigation, although it has been nearly thirty-one (31) years since Mr. Hoffa disappeared. The Hoffa case is part of a larger Organized Crime investigation and the recent information presented to the FBI which led to the execution of the federal search warrant in Milford Township, Michigan, was considered credible and necessary for follow-up.
In order to effectively execute this search warrant in a safe and reasonable amount of time, it has been necessary to utilize a significant amount of manpower from the Detroit FBI Office, the Chicago FBI Office, as well as personnel from FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and Bloomfield Township Police. The expenditure of funds has always been necessary in each and every case the FBI works, and this one is no exception. We will not abandon our responsibility to effectively investigate a pending Organized Crime case simply because it might be termed "too old" nor will we compromise any other ongoing investigation in this process.
We will continue to investigate this matter in an effort to resolve the disappearance of Mr. Hoffa, as well as to further our investigation of Organized Crime in the State of Michigan. The FBI will not be held to time constraints in the investigation of any Organized Crime matters.
