Daniel D. Roberts, Special Agent in Charge, Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced that the FBI has been in consultation
with representatives from the Caro, Michigan, Police Department, the Tuscola
County Prosecutor's Office, the Michigan State Police, and the United States
Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan regarding individuals
who were arrested during the previous week. Logical investigation continues
on this matter. Roberts stated that there is no imminent threat to the Mackinaw
Bridge. There is no information to indicate that the individuals arrested
have any direct nexus to terrorism. The FBI will pursue all investigative
leads and work together with its partners in local law enforcement regarding
this matter.
