19 ARRESTED ON FEDERAL, STATE AND TRIBAL DRUG DISTRIBUTION CHARGES
Andrew G. Arena, Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI), Detroit, Michigan, Myles McCormack, 8th District Commander, Michigan State Police, Marquette, Michigan and Robin Halfaday, Chief of Police, Hannahville – Potawatomi Indian Community announced that 19 subjects have been arrested on federal, state and tribal drug distribution charges. The arrests are the culmination of a nine month investigation by the FBI’s Upper Peninsula Safe Trails Task Force (UPSTTF), the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) and the Hannahville Tribal Police Department.
The recently established UPSTTF is responsible for the investigation of violent crimes on the five Indian Reservations located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The task force is comprised of federal, tribal, state and local agencies.
The formation of the UPSTTF will provide a prolonged drug initiative, targeting those that are involved in illegal drug activity in Indian Country.
The individuals arrested include:
- Peter Compo, Sr., age 56, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Compo is charged with one federal count of distribution of marijuana and vicodin, one federal count of distribution of vicodin, one federal count of conspiracy to deliver marijuana and vicodin and one federal count of conspiracy to deliver marijuana.
- Reed Keezer, age 55, of Wilson, Michigan. Keezer is charged with one federal count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
- Edna Keezer, age 60, of Wilson, Michigan. Keezer is charged with one federal count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
- Lesley Munroe, age 40, of Wilson, Michigan. Munroe is charged with four federal counts of distribution of marijuana and one federal count of distribution of marijuana, Oxycodone and dihydrocodeinone (lortabs).
- Michael Wandahsega, age 36, of Wilson, Michigan. Wandahsega is charged with two federal counts of distribution of marijuana and one federal count of distribution of marijuana and dihydrocodeinone (vicodin).
- Alexander Sagataw, age 25, of Wilson, Michigan. Sagataw is charged with two federal counts of distribution of marijuana and one federal count of distribution of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school.
- Kevin Halfaday, age 34, of Escanaba, Michigan. Halfaday is charged with three federal counts of distribution of morphine and one federal count of distribution of oxycodone.
- Joyce Wandahsega, age 28, of Wilson, Michigan. Wandahsega is charged with one count of distribution of cocaine, one federal count of distribution of amphetamine and one federal count of distribution of oxycodone.
- Lucas Sagataw, age 24, of Wilson, Michigan. Sagataw is charged with three federal counts of distribution of marijuana.
- Dawn Halfaday, age 38, of Escanaba, Michigan. Halfaday is charged with two Delta County counts of aiding and abetting the delivery of a controlled substance (morphine and oxycodone).
- David Joslin, age 43, of Escanaba, Michigan. Joslin is charged with one Delta County count of delivery of marijuana, one Delta County misdemeanor count of maintaining a drug house and one Menominee County count of delivery of marijuana.
- Ryan Beaver, age 17, of Gladstone, Michigan. Beaver is charged with one Delta County count of delivery of a controlled substance (adderall).
- Heidi Carlson, age 34, of Wilson, Michigan. Carlson is charged with one Delta County count of aiding and abetting the delivery of a controlled substance (alprazolam).
- Jeffrey Carlson, Jr., age 38, of Wilson, Michigan. Carlson is charged with one Delta County count of delivery of a controlled substance (alprazolam).
- Jason Wandahsega, age 37, of Wilson, Michigan. Wandahsega is charged with one Hannahville Tribal count of possession with intent to manufacture marijuana and one Tribal count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Francesca Smith, age 22, of Wilson, Michigan. Smith is charged with one Hannahville Tribal count of delivery/sale of marijuana and one Tribal count of delivery/sale of cocaine.
- Charles Meshigaud, age 25, of Escanaba, Michigan. Meshigaud is charged with one Delta County count of delivery of marijuana.
- Edward Meshigaud, age 37, of Wilson, Michigan. Meshigaud is charged with one Delta County count of possession of a controlled substance (vicodin).
- Jesse Wandahsega, age 33, of Wilson, Michigan. Wandahsega is charged with one Delta County count of possession of a controlled substance (vicodin).
In addition to UPSTTF, UPSET and the Hannahville Tribal Police Department, the Escanaba Department of Public Safety, the Menominee and Delta County Sheriff’s Departments and the Michigan State Police, Stephenson Post, assisted in the above arrests. Additional arrests are anticipated.
