On Sunday, July 20, 2008 at approximately 12:00 p.m., the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Roseville Police Department arrested a suspect in the serial bank robbery spree in Macomb County. Jimmie Lee Fortune, 28, of Bishop Road, Detroit, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon and will be arraigned in Federal Court today. Law enforcement officers also executed two federal search warrants, one of the suspect's residence and one on the suspect's vehicle believed to have been used in the robberies.
Fortune is believed to have robbed at least 7 banks in the Macomb County area. The latest robbery occurred on Saturday, June 19, 2008 at a TCF Bank in Roseville, Michigan.
The FBI would like to express appreciation for the hard work and assistance of the Roseville Police Department in preparation and execution of the arrest and search warrants conducted on Sunday. The FBI would also like to thank the Warren Police Department, Sterling Heights Police Department and Eastpointe Police Department in the investigation into this serial bank robber.
